BRIGHTENING FUTURES TOGETHER
In the lives of HIV-positive children, numerous challenges abound. Some were born with HIV, while others acquired it through childhood sexual violence. Many have experienced the heartache of losing their parents and even their siblings. Yet, amidst these challenges, there is a beacon of hope. With multiple support groups being run weekly, these children come together, a sanctuary where they find safety, a compassionate ear, and understanding. They can simply be children—playing, colouring, and singing songs. For some, the highlight is sharing a meal with a family member, often an aging grandmother or grandfather who now lovingly cares for them.
Our grandparents, despite their own health challenges and economic hardships, stand as unwavering pillars of stability and support for these young children. They provide the care and love these children desperately need. By equipping them with vital resources like wool or seeds, we empower them to create items for sale or grow food to sustain their daily lives.
